Weekly dues (Captain)                       Weekly                                  $20.00

Team Rosters

Teams may consist of up to 10 roster players. Match line-ups consist of 4 players versus 4 players.  No substitutions are allowed once a player has started his first game. Please maintain your own substitutes.  The best way to avoid forfeits is to have at least 5 or 6 players on your roster.  Teams that continue to have difficulty fielding a full line-up will be assigned roster players by the league director. We will continue to maintain averages for those players who are unable to commit to a roster, but are available to play as an alternate when needed

Captain Responsibility

Signed, completed score sheets with Team Money must be dropped in the league box at Pine Street by Thursday 8pm of each week.  Team Money includes the $20.00 for weekly fees as well as $15.00 annual BCA sanctioning fee for players added to their rosters/line-up during the season. Captains are responsible for score sheet accuracy.  Captains will be responsible for the aramith cue ball provided by the league for teams playing on Valley/Dynamo tables.  The cue ball is to be returned at the end of the season.  You may choose to leave the ball at your home bar or have a teammate keep care of it, but ultimately, the Captain is responsible for the return of the ball.  Failure to return the cue ball at the end of the season will result in a $25.00 dollar deduction from the prize fund.

Weekly Matches

Weekly matches begin at 7:30 pm at the scheduled location. Practice time for the Visiting team is reserved between 7-7:30pm.  Practice time for the Home team is between 6:30-7pm.   Prior to 6:30 pm tables are available on a first come first serve basis.  Some teams are flexible with practice times, some are not.

Home team fills out the line-up portion of the score sheet first.  Captains verify the match handicap and start the match as close to 7:30pm as possible.

BREAKS are predetermined with a small “B” in the game box.  Basically the teams alternate breaks throughout the four rounds. The BCA uses a RACK-YOUR-OWN rule, so the player with the Break, racks, and pays the coin.

Sinking the 8ball on the break does not win or lose a game.  If the bar owner/manager is available to open the table, please ask them to do so.  If no one or key is available to retrieve the ball, the Breaker will pay to retrieve the 8ball from the table. Follow BCA rules for correct protocol.

The original Breaker is ultimately responsible for dropping additional coin even if circumstance within the BCA rules dictate forfeiture of the break.

Scoring

Each individual game will use a 15 point must scoring system.  The total score of both players must equal 15 points, (with the exception of forfeits).  The game winner automatically receives 8 points, plus one point for each of his opponent’s balls that remain on the table.

Team round points are rewarded to the team scoring more points after the match handicap is applied for each 4 player round.  An additional round point is rewarded for the match total (includes the total match handicap).  Any round tied is scored as “half” a round point.

Team with the most rounds won after 27 weeks, wins the league.  In the event of a tie, total points are the first tie breaker, games won is the second tie breaker.

MVP is determined by a point’s race. Individual honors are paid to the top 5 male shooters and top 3 female shooters.

Handicaps

First 2 weeks of league play will use cumulative averages when available to establish match handicaps, (minimum of two cumulative averages or the match is played without a handicap).. Player’s average equals total points divided by games played (rounded to one decimal point).  Players will use their “live” averages in their third week of play.  Subtract the lower teams total average from the higher teams total to arrive at a Match handicap. Please round the decimal point after the equation, i.e. 2.4 = 2 while 2.5 = 3 balls per round.

In some cases, teams will not have 4 established players.  Please remove the player averages from the complete line up (highest to lowest) until the number of established players is equal. Once you figure an equal amount of established players, you can determine a match handicap.

Match Handicaps will graduate as the season progresses.  Weeks 1-9 @ 1.25%, Weeks 9-18 @ 1.50%, and weeks 19-27 @ 1.67%.

Sandbagging

Intentionally minimizing your wins or purposely losing games to manipulate your average is greatly discouraged..  Please put forth your best effort each and every game.  Please use the player average from the “Cume” column of the stat sheets.  The Cume column is an active real time cumulative average of all games played for each player’s history.

Blinds

If one player is missing from a team line up, a rotation of Blinds may be used to complete a match.  First, remove the highest average from the team in full attendance.  Figure match handicap based on 3 player averages minus 3 player averages. Team using Blind must rotate 3 players in the absentee line-up.  Opposing team chooses the 4th round player. (One player will play twice, opposing captain can choose which player plays 2 blind games).

No Double blinds, and a maximum of 1 Blind may be used during the season.  Blinds may not be used during a position round.  If your team has used the blind, and cannot find an emergency fill in, please see the Forfeit section below.

In a perfect world everyone shows up each and every week. Blinds, when used sparingly, are one method to prevent the circumstance of a forfeit. Blinds should not be abused and/or used as strategy, so the league will monitor the use of blinds very carefully.

Forfeits

League start time is 7:30.  This does not mean arrive at 7:30.  Please come early, pay your captain , then have a drink, practice or goof around.  For those who cannot follow the preceding, please memorize the law on a forfeit.

The league director does not want and will not declare any forfeits.  The opposing captain has the right to call a forfeit under the following conditions,

1.       If no team members arrive by 8:00pm, a match forfeit may be called.

2.       If one or two members are running late, play all possible games on the score sheet.  After all possible games are played, the incomplete team must declare if they will continue with an alternate or wait for their late player.  If they do not declare that they will use an alternate, three separate game forfeits may be declared after 5, 10 and 15 minutes, etc.  following the last game played.

3.       Scores of forfeited games will be the higher of A) the current average of the winning player versus zero, or B) 8 versus zero.

The above rule may be used by the team captains or acting team captains.  However, if you can persuade the other team captain to allow your team more time, you may make alternate arrangements, (Extra Blinds and make up matches excluded).

Position Rounds

The Fall season will have two or three position rounds.    (First place versus Second place, Third place versus Fourth place, etc.)   The only guaranteed Home game is for the team in first place.  The only guaranteed away match is for the team in second place.  All other matches are subject to venue availability.  The schedule will be broadcast via email shortly after the stats are posted.

Coaching

No warning needed to call an automatic foul for coaching.  We will use the following definition for coaching.  Any information communicated to a player during a game that may be used to that player’s advantage.  Notice: This information may be requested or simply volunteered.  Either way – It is a FOUL.  The exception to this rule is a third party intentionally coaching to instigate a ball in hand.

Conflicts

If for any reason a disagreement occurs in your game please use the following protocol; First discuss the issue with your opponent.  Know the rules, and find the solution from the rules.  If you cannot find the solution in the rules, ask the team captains to discuss the issues.  If you cannot come to a resolution with the team captains, then ask the league director.  Be advised, Do not protest after a game or match – The protest must be made immediately after the incident.

Conflicts that escalate from disagreements to physical altercations are subject to expulsion from the league. Players expelled from the league as well as those who quit the league forfeit any benefits or prize money.  Future participation is subject to review by the league director.

Players are responsible for their own conduct.  Players 86’d from any establishment will be expelled from the league.  Players expelled from the league forfeit any benefits or prize money.
